The Ancestor’s Tale project runs through several phases and we are happy to inform you on our progress.
We are momentarily at work in the preparatory stage. For now, our main research question is as to how (un)equally wealth in Belgium was distributed in the past, and how it has evolved until today. Researchers are busy collecting data, which will lay the necessary groundwork for further research. For this, we are studying the Belgian declarations of succession. This will make it possible to reconstruct changes in the wealth distribution between 1800 and today.
